A young widow broke down in tears at the ongoing “Occupy the National Assembly” protest in Abuja as she shared the heartbreaking story of losing her husband to kidnappers just one year after their wedding.
The visibly emotional woman told protesters that her husband was kidnapped and later killed, even after the family paid the ransom demanded by his abductors. Her account drew sympathy from fellow demonstrators, many of whom were moved to tears by her pain.
“My husband was kidnapped, and they killed him after collecting the ransom, just a year after our wedding,” she cried, lamenting how insecurity has destroyed her family and countless others across the country.
