Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has clarified that her invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers for the commissioning of constituency projects was done in full compliance with legislative protocol.

Just two months after being reinstated from suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan extended formal invitations to Akpabio and her colleagues to attend a series of project commissioning ceremonies marking her second anniversary in office.

According to the senator, the invitation was properly channeled through the presiding officer, as required by Senate procedures, and was officially requested to be read on the Senate floor.

“Today, as is the standard practice for such announcements, I wrote to the Senate through the presiding officer, asking the Senate President to have the invitation read during plenary,” she explained.

Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that the gesture was intended to ensure inclusiveness and avoid any perception of isolation. “I am a progressive person. Despite pending court matters, I remain dedicated to my duties in the chamber and always follow proper processes,” she added.

She further emphasized that her actions demonstrate respect for institutional order and adherence to due process, noting that the upcoming project inaugurations and her two-year milestone are centered on service to the people rather than personal celebration.
