A woman from Jattu in Edo State has cried out online after her family’s access road was allegedly blocked by a neighbour, forcing them to use a ladder to enter and leave their home.
The incident, which recently went viral on social media, reportedly involves a road the family had used for years before it was suddenly closed off.
According to the woman, the blockage has made movement extremely difficult for members of the household, who now allegedly climb over a fence with a ladder whenever they want to enter or exit the compound.
The situation has sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians reacting to the viral video and debating property rights, town planning failures, and neighbour disputes.
@wizdavido_ reacted, “My Edo people with some tiny drop w!ck£dness mixed together W!tchcr@ft.”
Another user, @Yink1Z, advised the family to seek legal action.
“Get a lawyer to file for you. You have an implied right to an easement if the road was available when the house was built!” he wrote.
However, some users defended the neighbour, arguing that proper approvals should have been obtained before construction.
@Aare_AlfLaposh commented, “I don’t see any injustice in what their neighbor has done. Next time other people will get proper clearance from Town Planning authorities before building.”
Others described the situation as unfair and shocking.
“Na only for Nigeria person go buy house still need ladder like say dem dey enter treehouse,” @Ozone_xl wrote.
