What my dad said to me after my Grammy loss – Davido spills

Well-renowned Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has spoken out about his father’s response to his Grammy loss.

Davido said that he is pleased of himself merely for being a nominee at the just ended 66th Grammy Awards.

The singer-songwriter, who is American-Nigerian, is a nominee for Best African Music Performance—Unavailable, Global Music Performance—Feel, and Global Music Album—Timeless.

The first-time Grammy nominee’s elimination from all three categories at the just ended 66th Record Academy Awards, held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, is no longer news.

Speaking about his journey to stardom during his latest interview with Rolling Stone, the Grammy nominee stated that despite the loss his father told him that he remains a legend. Davido said:

“Being nominated alone is enough to make me proud of myself. I just want my song to be heard on the radio once or twice in the beginning, but for it to transcend to this is just amazing and God’s doing.

“I was on the phone with my dad yesterday and he was like ‘Son no matter what happens, you are still a legend’. So yeah, he is a big fan.”
