Subsidy removal will lessen carbon dioxide emissions - Shettima

The National Economic Council (NEC) meeting was presided over by Nigeria’s Vice President (VP), Kashim Shettima, on Thursday in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Journalists were not allowed in the meeting, according to Gistlover, who only saw them waiting outside for a briefing on the outcome.

The meeting will likely include other interested parties and state governors from all over the Federation.

There are expectations that topics up for discussion at the NEC meeting this week may touch on the nation’s current economic difficulties brought on by the elimination of the gasoline subsidy.

Security issues facing the entire nation, including recent attacks in some parts of the North, are also anticipated to be covered.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited announced about 24 hours prior to the NEC meeting that it had obtained a $3 billion Emergency Crude Repayment Loan from the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIM) Bank, according to News.
