“Upcoming Artists Should Be Scared”- Man Raises Alarm Claims Afrobeats is Dying

  • A man has sparked debate online after claiming that Mavin Records no longer produces instant superstars as it once did.
  • He warned that Afrobeats may be declining, though many argue the genre is still growing globally despite increased competition.

A social media user has stirred conversation online after making bold claims about the current state of Nigeria’s Afrobeats industry, particularly referencing Mavin Records and its founder, Don Jazzy.

In a widely circulated statement, the man compared the label’s past influence to its present operations, alleging that artists signed under the imprint no longer achieve instant success as they once did.

“Back then, if Don Jazzy signs an artist, within 24 hours that artist is a superstar. But today, Mavin Records sign artists and they struggle to push them,” he claimed.

He further argued that the perceived decline in the label’s impact reflects a broader issue within the Afrobeats industry.

“If the biggest record label is struggling like this, then you as an upcoming artist should be scared. Afrobeats is dying and this is what we need to fix the problems in the industry before it’s too late,” he added.

In other news… Veteran Nollywood comic actor Charles Inojie has voiced strong disappointment with the current administration, taking aim at the ministers serving under President Ahmed Bola Tinubu over what he described as poor performance.

Sharing his thoughts on social media, the actor expressed frustration with the federal cabinet, questioning their effectiveness in office.

He noted that many Nigerians are unable to identify these officials or even link them to the ministries they oversee, suggesting a disconnect between the government and the public.

Expanding on his criticism, Inojie argued that a large number of the appointed ministers have failed to make any real impact, adding little to national development.

He went further to describe them as liabilities, accusing them of merely attending political events to create the impression of working rather than fulfilling their actual responsibilities.

“President Tinubu’s ministers are so abysmally decrepit and miserably incompetent that you don’t even know their names or who holds what portfolio. Aside a minute inconsequential few of them, the bulk are at best, wayfarers and liabilities to both their appointing authority as well as the people they were meant to serve. It is not a surprise that they latch on to campaign rallies in order to be seen to be doing something. This is where we have found ourselves.”
