“United We Stand” The Kutis Declare Strong Support for Seun Kuti

The Kutis, including Yeni Kuti, Femi Kuti, Funke Kuti, and Made Kuti, have shown their unwavering support for their brother, Seun Kuti, who was arrested for assaulting a police officer.

Yeni Kuti posted a photo of her brother and her nephew, Made, standing in court for Seun. Yeni revealed they are constantly united in the photographs she shared. “United we stand!!! @bigbirdkuti @femiakuti @madekuti @funkekut.”

During his debut concert in France, Femi Kuti also advocated for his brother’s release. He stated he won’t reveal anything about his arrest since he doesn’t want to enrage the cops.

“freeseunkuti @femiakuti at his first concert in France! United we stand. One family.”

Seun Kuti was arrested by Nigerian police on Monday for allegedly assaulting one of their officers. This came after he was seen on camera attacking an officer on Lagos’ third mainland bridge.

On Saturday, a brief video clip went viral showing Kuti, who was dressed in a red shirt and white pants, assaulting a police officer who was standing next to a Toyota Hilux police van.

The singer then slapped the cop and yelled, “You dey craze, you dey mad?”

The video sparked outrage on social media, with individuals expressing their displeasure with Kuti’s actions. The outcry drove the inspector-general of police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, to order Seun’s arrest.

In a statement, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police PRO, said the inspector-general also directed that a probe be carried out to ascertain the facts of the case.

“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly,” Hundeyin said.

“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.”
