The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert warning of a possible terrorist threat targeting U.S. facilities and American-affiliated schools in Nigeria, particularly in Abuja.

In a notice published on its official website on Monday, the embassy advised U.S. citizens living in or visiting Nigeria to remain vigilant and take additional safety precautions.

The notice urged Americans to be security conscious when visiting U.S. diplomatic locations and schools connected to the United States.

According to the alert, “The US Embassy in Abuja informs US citizens of a possible terrorist threat against US facilities and US-affiliated schools in Nigeria.”

The embassy further advised: “The Embassy recommends that US citizens take additional precautions when travelling to the US Embassy, the US Consulate General in Lagos, and US-affiliated schools, to include varying times and routes.”

The warning comes as part of routine security advisories issued to ensure the safety of American citizens abroad.

Authorities have encouraged individuals to remain alert and follow recommended safety measures when visiting locations linked to U.S. institutions in Nigeria.
