Two white garment church members drown in Ogun river

The two individuals who traveled from Lagos to the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Onikoko via the Itori neighborhood of the state were confirmed dead at the Ifo General Hospital after drowning in the river the went to swim in, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Omolola Odutola, the public relations officer for the Ogun State Police.

The PPRO stated, “A member of the church, one Adebayo Adeosun, reported at the station around 6.30pm that some boys numbering about seven who came from Lagos on August 27, 2023, for his church inauguration, left the church premises to swim, and got drowned in the process.

The two drowning victims were later identified as Tunde Falade (35) of Kola Alagbado, Lagos, and Femi Akinola (32) of Odo Eran, Itire, Lagos State, after they were saved from the high tides. They were taken in an ambulance to the Itori Health Center, where a working doctor tragically confirmed their demise.

After receiving the report, Odutola added that the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olayemi Jacob, sent a team to the scene to investigate. The DPO determined that there were no signs of violence and no indications of foul play.
