A new video of legendary Nollywood actor Mr Ibu and his wife Stella at his hospital bed has stirred outrage on social media.
In the video, Mr. Ibu—who has been in critical condition for a few weeks—is heard thanking his wife for being there for him during his medical crisis and praying for her.
According to earlier reports, Mr. Ibu underwent five surgeries and was scheduled to travel overseas for additional medical care.
In a statement, his family said that the surgeries had gone well and that they were grateful for the donations from Nigerians. Furthermore, the foundation of former Senate President Bukola Saraki paid for Mr. Ibu’s medical bills.
When Mr. Ibu, whose actual name is John Okafor, celebrated his 62nd birthday at the hospital with his family, it made headlines.
The actor’s gaunt face and swelling legs were obvious signs of a difficult medical condition. He had implored Nigerians to spare his leg from amputation.
