After some Nigerians allegedly broke into the page to ask whether or not President Bola Tinubu actually graduated from the school, Chicago State University in the United States has made its X page private.

This comes after Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, petitioned a US court for information regarding Tinubu’s academic standing at Chicago State University.

When I checked the page on Tuesday, it had been changed from Public to Private with the message “These posts are protected. Only verified followers have access to the full profiles and posts of @ChicagoState.

The university had informed PUNCH that Tinubu did indeed attend the university, according to a report from January 2022.

Mr. Tinubu did attend our university, but if more details are required, go to the studentclearinghouse. org website to make a formal request, said Beverly Poindexter, who oversees official transcript requests, enrollment, and degree verification at the Office of the Registrar, CSU.

The university claimed that Tinubu attended it from 1977 to 1979 in a previous letter dated August 20, 1999 and signed by the registrar at the time, Lois Davis.

I should like to inform you that Bola A. From August 1977 to June 1979, Tinubu did in fact study at Chicago State University. On June 22, 1979, he received an honors-based Bachelor of Science in Business and Administration. He was an accounting major.

A letter of recommendation from CSU praising Tinubu’s performance and “high scholastic achievement” was also included with his form CF004 submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission in 2003 when he ran for governor again.

Since some time, especially after the 2023 general election, Tinubu’s academic background has been a source of debate.
