President Bola Tinubu mourns Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu, a prominent Islamic cleric who died on Wednesday.

President Tinubu, through his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, hailed the religious leader’s death as a loss that reverberated far beyond the late preacher’s immediate community.

According to the president, the cleric’s death touched the entire country because of his contributions to the canon of Islamic studies and his well-known calls for moral rectitude.

Tinubu expressed his sorrow and compassion to the Islamic cleric’s family, followers, and allies.

He said: “The voice of Sheikh Giro Argungu will long be remembered for his years of Islamic propagation and advocacy for righteousness. The activities of the cleric through the Islamic group, JIBWIS, where he had served as the Working Committee Chairman, has contributed immensely in guiding a large flock of Muslim youths over the years.”

Sheikh Argungu, according to President Tinubu, will be dearly missed for his courageous advocacy and for holding politicians accountable for honoring their commitments to citizens.

The president also expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family, the government and people of Kebbi State, and the Nigerian Muslim community, and prayed for eternal life for the departed.
