Veteran Nollywood actor, Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK), has reacted to the viral video showing the tragic killing of a young singer, Oghenemine Million Ogidi, allegedly by a police officer.

The disturbing footage, which has been widely circulated online, captured the moment the singer was fatally shot by a trigger-happy officer, sparking outrage across social media. Many Nigerians, including some Nollywood practitioners and eyewitnesses linked to the incident, have since demanded justice and strict disciplinary action against the officer involved.

Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page, Kanayo O. Kanayo revealed that he was in Delta State for a movie production when news of the incident broke, describing it as deeply heartbreaking.

He questioned the level of safety in the country, especially if a young man who was reportedly pleading for his life could still be killed in such a manner. The actor also expressed concern over the broader implications of the incident, including the safety of citizens and even those under the supervision of the Inspector General of Police.

The veteran actor further highlighted risks within the film industry, noting that some actors use both real and imitation firearms on set. He questioned what could happen if such individuals encounter law enforcement officers under similar circumstances.

Kanayo O. Kanayo emphasized the importance of proper compliance with firearm regulations in movie production, urging filmmakers and actors who use prop weapons to ensure they obtain the necessary licences and permits from the police. He also advised them to always carry such documentation when on location shoots.

Calling for accountability, the actor urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the officer involved is subjected to appropriate and strict punishment, insisting that the incident amounts to murder and should not be treated lightly.
