Nigerian sports fans adore the Premier league just as much as they love local competitions. An event that somehow manages to bring together football enthusiasts from around the world, the Premier League is the epitome of annual soccer tournaments, known for its thrilling action, international players, and high-intensity game play.

Due to Premier League’s ever-increasing fame, it is also one of the most bet-worthy football competitions held annually. When looking at the previous two seasons, Manchester City was the ultimate team to follow. However, things are a lot different this year. For a change, we have a surprise underdog looking to make a big splash while one of the topmost teams of England, Liverpool, is fighting to claim the title for the very first time in its new avatar.

Manchester City

The biggest disappointment of the 2019-2020 Premier League season has been Manchester City. The returning champions struggled to find their feet in the competition from the very beginning, losing easy games and throwing away goals left, right, and centre. At the heart of it all is the fact that their champion player Vincent Kompany quit the team to go back to his hometown. This left a significant gap in team dynamics. Moreover, it seems that Kompany moving has resulted in lowering of the team’s confidence, evident on the field. Still, Manchester City is a strong team, but more grounded, who will have to really buckle up and learn from their mistakes before the next season starts.

Leicester City

As far as surprises in the Premier League go, the biggest has been the phenomenal game play showcased by Leicester City. The underdogs of the present season, when it comes to football prediction, no one could have guessed that Leicester will make such a positive impact on the tournament this year. Although the team is a few points behind Liverpool in the leader’s board, they are gunning for the top spot. Any small mistake made by Liverpool at this stage can prove to be just the thing Leicester City needs to lift the trophy. If you enjoy betting on football, going with the 35/1 odds for the Leicester can very well be a jackpot-winning bet.

Jamie Vardy

The English player has always been a big goal scorer, but this year he has been on fire. One of the main reasons why Leicester City is amongst the top contenders for the Premier League title, Jamie Vardy is also leading the top goal scorer table with a total of 16 goals so far. His closest competitor is Tammy Abraham from Chelsea with 11 goals. However, Liverpool favourites Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are at nine goals each, and with their team performing brilliantly, we can expect a real fight between them all for the Golden Boot this season.

Unai Emery

There were a lot of mixed feelings last year when Unai Emery joined Arsenal as their new coach. Unfortunately, problems started to arise from the very beginning. First, it was issues with Mesut Ozil, and then a string of losses against teams that Arsenal should have easily defeated. After the abysmal performance in the Premier League, the manager was finally sacked in November of 2019. All Arsenal can hope for is to find the right leader for themselves and come back next year as a stable and championship-winning team.
