Police Commission Suspends decorated officer, DCP Abba Kyari

Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has stated that the US government will bring Abba Kyari, the beleaguered Nigerian police officer, to trial whether he likes it or not.

On Sunday, August 8, during a Twitter Spaces conversation moderated by Rinu Oduala, a human rights advocate and community organizer, the senior lawyer stated that the Nigerian government, which had engaged in “gangsterism while dealing with secessionists,” now wants to follow due process in Kyari’s case.

Maintaining that the Nigerians should defend their rights and stop having the “God will judge” mindset, Falana announced that the federal government will be dragged to court over those who have been kidnapped.

He said;

“Whether Abba Kyari likes it or not, the Americans are going to get him to stand trial.

“We want to make the government responsible and accountable, anybody who has been kidnapped, the family members who have paid ransom to have them freed.”

In recent news, a law company led by Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) appealed to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, asking information on the charges filed against 400 people accused of supporting Boko Haram.

The suspects were arrested in Kano, Borno, Abuja, Lagos, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kaduna, and Zamfara.

In a freedom of information (FoI) request signed by Samuel Ogala on behalf of Falana & Falana‘s Chambers, Malami was required to disclose information about their prosecution within seven days.
