- Seun Kuti criticized activist VeryDarkMan for claiming his protests helped rescue abducted children.
- Kuti labeled VeryDarkMan’s assertion as false.
- He argued that the protests only led to a meeting with a state governor, not the rescue itself.

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has criticised social media activist VeryDarkMan over his claim that his actions and protest played a role in the government’s rescue of abducted children.
Kuti, in a recent statement, dismissed the activist’s claim as false, arguing that VeryDarkMan’s protest only resulted in a meeting with a state governor and had no direct connection to the eventual rescue operation.
According to the Grammy-nominated singer, the governor who met with VeryDarkMan was not responsible for the security operation that led to the children being rescued, adding that taking credit for the development was misleading.
“VeryDarkMan saying he’s the one that made the government rescue the children, that’s a lie. His protest was just to meet the Governor which he did, but the governor has nothing to do with the rescue of the children,” Kuti stated.
The singer further mocked the activist’s belief that organising a protest could force government action within a short period, describing the claim as unrealistic.
“That’s why I call him Verydaftman because imagine thinking you can gather your rats and then make the government do something within three weeks,” he added.
VeryDarkMan, known for his outspoken views on social and political issues, had previously suggested that public pressure from his protest contributed to the government’s response to the situation.
Kuti’s comments have since sparked reactions online, with Nigerians sharing different opinions on whether activists should receive credit for government actions following public campaigns.
