A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after sharing her opinion about parents giving out their children as house helps.
According to her, many children are being wrongly placed in domestic service instead of being properly raised by their parents. She strongly advised against the practice, stressing that children should be cared for at home and not handed over to other households.
She also offered advice to parents on family planning and responsibility, saying people should only have children they can adequately cater for financially and emotionally.
In her words:
“Stop giving your children out as house help to Igbo women, they only know how to take care of their own children. If you don’t have money to cater for children, don’t give birth and only have the number of children you can properly raise. Children are blessings but also an expense, you need money to take care of them.”
Her statement has since generated mixed reactions online, with many agreeing with her while others debated the tone and generalization of her remarks.
