South East Plunged Into Complete Darkness As EEDC Operations Collapse

Following the collapse of operations at Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, or EEDC, the South East has experienced total darkness for a second time in two weeks.

In a press release titled “Notice Of Total System Collapse,” EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, stated that the incident took place on Thursday around 12:40am.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) issued the following statement: “The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a total system collapse which occurred at 12:40am today, September 14, 2023.

This led to the supply disruption that the network is currently experiencing.

“As a result of this development, we are unable to provide service to our customers in the states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo because all of our interface TCN (Transmission Company of Nigeria) stations are out of supply.

“The National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo has been notified, and we are on standby in anticipation of their detailed report on the supply collapse and restoration. “
