"Something is wrong with this nomination” – Netizens reacts as actor Timini Egbuson bags AMVCA nominations

Timini Egbuson, a popular Nollywood actor, has come under fire for his recent nomination to the ten African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

On Sunday, March 24th, the AMVCA announced the worthy candidates in each of their categories for the event, which will take place on May 11, 2024.

Timini, who recently announced his movie break, was nominated for his explicit role in Funke Akindele’s grossing film, ‘A tribe called Judah,’ under the category of Best supporting actor, which did not sit well with social media users.

The 36-year-old actor will compete for the category win against Itele D icon (Jagun Jagun), Alexx Ekubo (Afamefuna), Demola Adedoyin (Breath of Life), Ropo Ewenla (Over the Bridge), Levi Chikere (The Blood Vessel), and Gregory Ojefua (This Is Lagos).

Nonetheless, netizens offered their viewpoints, stating that Timini should not be qualified for his performance as ‘Pere’ in ‘A Tribe Called Judah’, revealing that his colleague, Tobi Makinde, who played ‘Shina’ in the same film, deserves the nomination for best supporting actor.

The highest-grossing film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” stars Funke Akindele, Timini Egbuson, Jide-kene Achufusi, Uzee Usman, Tobi Makinde, and Olumide Oworu and depicts the narrative of a single mother and her five children.

Timini has previously faced criticism for comparing himself to legendary actor Zubby Michael, claiming that he is the biggest actor.
