Senate set to screen Keyamo, Oyetola, Bagudu, 17 other ministerial nominee

Today marks the fourth day of the Senate‘s assessment of the ministerial nominees President Bola Tinubu forwarded to it on Wednesday this week for confirmation.

On Wednesday, President Tinubu handed the Senate 19 nominations for consideration.

Today’s Order Paper states that the Senators will now start by vetting the twenty nominees for ministerial positions, which includes Keyamo in addition to the nineteen already listed on the Order Paper.  The exercise was in accordance with statements made by the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, APC, Ekiti Central, who stated that “The Senate do consider the request of Mr. President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the confirmation of the following nominees for appointments as Ministers of the Government of the Federation in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as am”).

The twenty nominees listed for screening today are: Adegboyega Oyetola, of Osun; Tunji Alausa, of Lagos; Ibrahim Geidam, of Yobe; and Sen. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, from Niger; Sen. Bayelsa Heineken Lokpobiri; Sen. Alkali Ahmed Said, from Gombe; Simon Bako Lalong, from the Plateau; Atiku Bagdu, from Kebbi; Bello Matawalle, from Zamfara; and Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, from Kebbi.

Others include Zephaniah Jisalo of the FCT, Dr. Maryam Mahmoud of Kano, Ahmed Tijani Gwarzo of Kano, Bosun Tijani of Ogun, Dr. Isiak Salako of Ogun, Lola Ade-John of Lagos, and Prof. Adamawa: Tahir Mamman; Taraba: Uba Maigari Ahmadu; Kogi: Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu; and Delta: Festus Keyamo.
