The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has urged security personnel in the state to conduct a thorough investigation after a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA) was detained in connection with the secret cult killings in Sagamu town that claimed the lives of no fewer than eight people.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chapter in Ogun was referred to as a “nest of cultists” in a statement released yesterday in the state capital of Abeokuta and personally signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye.

LEADERSHIP recalled that DSS agents had last week detained Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed, a state lawmaker currently in office Along with five other alleged members of the cult, accused of taking part in the murders in Sagamu town.

The suspects, Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya, and Tobi Owoade, were inside the official residence of the recently elected PDP lawmaker representing Sagamu State Constituency 1.

Oladunjoye, who referred to cultism as “a menace that robs the society of peace,” declared that their activities must not be tolerated, “no matter whose ox is gored,” highlighting the fact that it has killed several youths in their prime.

“It is no longer a rumor that prominent PDP members in the state who hold high office in their various local governments are also members of cults. We implore the security agencies to keep tabs on the types of meetings that the ostensibly honorable members are organizing, hosting, and preside over in their districts.
