Reports on How Armed Robbers Attempted To Attack Aso Villa Building

Reports have emerged of how suspects invaded and tried to rob top aides of President Muhammadu Buhari inside the premises of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It will be recalled as previously reported by gistlover that the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja was reportedly invaded by a gang of armed robbers who escaped with a lot of items.

It was reported that the residences of the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari as well as that of an admin officer Abubakar Maikano within the premises of the Villa were specific targets.

According to reports, the robbers took away many valuables from both residences during the attack which occurred on Sunday, May 9, 2021.

The report added that both Gambari and Maikano were forced to temporarily abandon their residences in the Villa due to the strange occurrence.

Fresh facts have emerged on how security operatives were able to stop the invaders from taking away any valuable property.

According to The Punch, no fewer than four policemen were attached to the residence of Maikano Abdullahi, the Administrative Officer of the Presidential Villa, which was targetted by suspected burglars.

It was learnt that the operatives worked in pairs on day and night shifts.

The building which was located a stone’s throw from the residence of President Buhari was situated a few metres from a military post usually manned by about four soldiers.

Checks also indicate that the building located within the Presidential Villa precinct, had a watchtower where a sniper was usually stationed.

The building was said to host a huge number of contractors and individuals seeking Abdullahi’s influence and presidential connections to sort out issues.

Security sources said the intruders must have believed that there were huge sums of money in the building.

It was gathered that the suspected burglars were chased away by an armed Mobile Police officer on duty at the time of the breach.

The intruders, who reportedly came in through a back street, scaled the fence into the premises and on seeing the armed policeman in the compound jumped over the wall and made good their escape.A source said, “What happened was that the intruders scaled the fence from the backstreet and on landing inside the compound saw an armed MOPOL. So, they ran and managed to jump out of the fence and escaped.”
