President Tinubu shouldn’t have Publicly Announced Military Intervention In Niger – Reno

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, claims that President Bola Tinubu erred when he announced publicly that military action would be taken in the Niger Republic.

Gistlover recalls that on July 25, 2023, the Presidential Guard, led by General Abdourahamane Tchiani, had detained Bazoum and taken control of the situation.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) threatened military intervention after the coup and imposed sanctions on the Niger Republic.

Unless it was a deliberate act to intimidate the Niger Republic’s Junta, Reno claimed Tinubu should not have made the proposed military intervention a public matter to the executive or legislature on Saturday.

He argued that all efforts must be made to prevent war and that, in the event that it breaks out, the UN and the rest of the world should foot the bill.

The military general who seized control should also be granted amnesty, according to Reno, if he transfers power back to Bazoum.

According to him, “it was improper to make public the Senate’s request for military action against the Niger Republic from President Tinubu. not by the legislative or executive branches. It was unwise to make it public. But it was done on purpose to terrorize the Niger Republic junta. Otherwise, it ought to have been a confidential memo that the Senate secretly discussed.

We shouldn’t stop at nothing to prevent war, as we do not pray for it. It is preferable to economically choke off the Nigerien putschists until they reinstate the democratically elected President. If the General who took control returns what he stole to the rightful owner, he should also be granted amnesty. And he should have the freedom to run for president in that nation’s upcoming election, if that is what he chooses to do.

But a last-ditch effort should be war. And if we must go to war, there should be a UN mandate, and the entire world should foot the bill.

However, whichever course of action Nigeria takes, if war breaks out, every Nigerian, including members of the Arewa Consultative Forum and opposition groups, must unite and support our government. But may it never come to that. We supplicate in Yeshua’s Name.
