Police Arrest Suspect Over Death Of Teenager In Yobe Govt. Lodge.

It has been confirmed that the Police Command in Yobe State has detained a man in custody for alleged involvement in the death of an 18-year-old girl during a suspected sex romp in the Yobe State government lodge.

The Police revealed that a man, identified as Dr. Albash with whom the girl was in the room before she died is already in detention.

The Yobe State Police spokesperson, Abdulkareem Dungus said Albash is being held for suspected homicide, adding that the man who claims to be a staff of the Ministry of Police Affairs reported the case himself at the ‘B’ Division in Damaturu, the State capital.

Dungus narrated that according to the suspect, the girl was brought to him by his friends on the night of January 6, 2021 around 8pm in the Government Lodge in Damaturu.

“There is a case of suspected homicide against one Dr Albash, which was reported at our ‘B’ Division here in Damaturu. In fact, the suspect reported himself at the police station,” Dungus stated.

“The suspect reported that the lady was brought by his friends to spend the night with him. He said shortly after rounds of sex, the lady collapsed and died right in the hotel room,” Dungus added.

The Police spokesperson however noted that they are yet to establish the man as a staff of the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs as he claimed, adding that he and four others are being held in detention.

“The chief suspect says he is a staff member of the Ministry of Police Affairs though we have yet to confirm that. Presently he and four other suspects are in detention at the state CID.”

A source close to the Government House in Damaturu alleged that Albash had links with Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni and that was how he had access to the government lodge where the incident happened.

Giving further details on the matter, a report on the Punch has it that one of the friends of the deceased who spoke on condition of anonymity explained that “there was a foamy substance at the corners of her mouth, suggesting that she was either poisoned or sexually abused.”

Another friend of the dead lady added that when they discovered their friend was dead and went to the Police station to report her death, they discovered the man she was in the hotel with before passing away has already reported the case.

“We were shocked to hear of her death, because we were together before she left us to meet a man at a location in Damaturu. We got to know about the unfortunate incident the next morning when we didn’t see her at home.

“We went to report the case at the police station but we learnt that the man she went to see had reported the incident. Her corpse was taken to hospital to determine the cause of death.”
