The Kano State Police Command announced on Wednesday that seven individuals had been taken into custody for demonstrating against the Court of Appeal ruling upholding the dismissal of New Nigeria Peoples Party Governor Abba-Kabir Yusuf.

According to State Police Commissioner Mr. Hussaini Gumel, who verified the arrest on Wednesday night, the seven demonstrators were taken into custody as they were making their way towards State House Road along the Kano Line.

 “We have succeeded in stopping the protesters and we have arrested seven of them.

“We have deployed armed policemen in the area; we have since commenced an intensive investigation and we will update you in due course,” Gumel said.

The police boss enjoined residents to go about their lawful activities as the police along with other security agencies had taken adequate security measures to prevent a recurrence.

“I am appealing to residents not to hesitate to report to the nearest security outfit any person or group of people engaging in any form of protest in and outside the metropolis for prompt action”, Gumel said.

According to The PUNCH, a group of young people who are allegedly NNPP supporters demonstrated in Kano on Wednesday against the governor’s dismissal by an appeal court ruling.
