Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu has reached out to Nigerians for financial support after revealing that she is currently battling cancer for the second time.
In a video making the rounds online, the actress shared details of her health journey, stating that she was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2023. She underwent surgery and completed chemotherapy as part of her treatment process.
However, Anijekwu disclosed that the illness returned despite the earlier medical intervention and has now become more severe.
The actress explained that medical tests recently showed that the cancer has spread to her bones, making her treatment more complicated and expensive.
She revealed that she has been in and out of the hospital and currently spends over ₦600,000 monthly on medical care. According to her, doctors have advised that she undergo radiation therapy and another surgery to help manage the condition.
Speaking about the financial challenges involved, Anijekwu said the cost of treatment has placed a huge burden on her family, which led her to seek assistance from well-meaning Nigerians.
“I have cancer. I did my surgery and took chemotherapy, but later it came back again. I’ve been in and out of the hospital. The doctor recently told me it has reached my bones, and the treatment is now much more expensive,” she said.
The actress further revealed that the cancer has affected both of her breasts and caused swelling in one of her hands. Despite the difficult experience, she said she remains determined to fight for her life.
“I need to live. I need to survive. I’m asking Nigerians to please help me. Anyone that can help, please, I need help,” she pleaded.
Anijekwu appealed to Nigerians both within the country and abroad to support her medical journey, noting that every form of assistance would go a long way.
“Your one naira, your two naira can add up to something reasonable for me to get the proper treatment for this cancer. I’m begging you, please help me,” she added.
