Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has shared the reason behind his absence at the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which took place on Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State.

Obi, who was noticeably missing at the high-profile ceremony attended by several dignitaries, explained that flight challenges hindered his travel plans. According to him, he was unable to secure any flight headed to Katsina, as the state’s airports were not accepting incoming flights due to the day’s events.

He expressed his regrets over not being able to attend and pay his final respects in person.

He said …

“It was difficult coming here yesterday because there was no flight. Even if there was a flight, you can’t land in Katsina airport. It was all closed because there was a lot of dignitaries. Anyone who comes today or tomorrow is still part of the mourning…”
