Content creator Tunde Perry has publicly appealed to the Nigeria Police to release popular streamer Peller, who is reportedly being detained following his arrest over an alleged traffic violation.
In a post shared on social media, Tunde Perry claimed that Peller’s management team has been working tirelessly to secure his release, saying they have been making efforts behind the scenes since his reported arrest.
“Peller management hasn’t slept, they’ve been going up and down to get him out. IG of police already said if you don’t have plate number you should be arrested, pls IG forgive Peller & release him, he is a small boy.”
Reports indicate that Peller’s encounter with the police began after he was allegedly stopped for driving a newly acquired vehicle without a registration number plate. Videos of the incident, which surfaced online, showed a confrontation between the streamer and police officers.
Speaking during an Instagram Live session after the incident, Peller claimed the vehicle had only recently been purchased and that the registration process had not yet been completed. He also alleged that officers dragged his shirt, pointed a gun at him, and subsequently took him into custody.
The reported arrest comes after the Inspector-General of Police directed officers nationwide to enforce laws against vehicles being driven without registration plates or with concealed number plates.
Although social media users have claimed that Peller has remained in police custody for two days, the Nigeria Police have not officially confirmed his continued detention or announced any charges against him.
