A resurfaced interview of former BBNaija 2019 winner, Mercy Eke, has reignited discussions on social media after she opened up about why she opted for a Brazilian Bum Lift (BBL) surgery.

In the clip, Mercy explained that her 2018 decision to undergo the procedure was not due to dissatisfaction with her body. The reality star from Imo State shared that she already felt confident in her appearance, but was influenced by prevailing trends and peer pressure at the time.

Mercy also admitted that, as an African woman, she felt her stomach looked fuller because of her fondness for Fufu, which partly factored into her choice to have the surgery.

Revealing the emotional side of her experience, she said she was too anxious to even inform her mother about the procedure. She underwent the surgery alongside two friends, and fortunately, everything went smoothly.

According to Mercy, the most difficult aspect was the recovery process. Post-surgery massages, intended to remove excess fluid, were excruciating, and patients were unable to sit on their backside for roughly two weeks, making rest and sleep uncomfortable. She noted that the initial three days can be particularly painful, causing many patients to cry due to the discomfort.

This interview has resurfaced amid the recent tragic death of Lagos socialite Elena Jessica, who passed away following a botched second BBL procedure. Her death has reignited conversations online about the dangers and risks associated with cosmetic surgeries.
