- A Nigerian has sparked fresh conversations online after lamenting that the abducted Oyo schoolchildren have been forgotten, despite spending 48 days in captivity.
- The post has renewed calls for authorities to intensify rescue efforts and keep public attention on the victims’ plight.

Concern is growing on social media over the fate of the schoolchildren abducted in Oyo State after a Nigerian lamented that public attention appears to have shifted away from their ordeal despite reports that they have now spent 48 days in captivity.
The concern comes weeks after armed kidnappers abducted pupils and teachers from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. During the attack, a mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed while in captivity, further deepening fears over the safety of the remaining victims.
A social media user, identified as @abazwhyllzz, reignited the conversation after sharing a post expressing sadness that many Nigerians had seemingly moved on from the incident.
“Nobody is even talking about these children in the bush again. Ahhh💔”
The post quickly gained traction, with many Nigerians lamenting that the children’s plight had been overshadowed by newer social media trends, while others called on the government to intensify efforts to secure their release.
