Nigerian Doctor Accused Of Allegedly Removing Ovaries Of 18 Year Old

A Doctor in Benue State is being accused of removing an 18-year-old girl’s ovaries during an appendix removal surgery.

According to SaharaReporters, the teenage girl, Dooyum Lanna had severe abdominal pains during her menstruation when she was sixteen after experience experiencing her first menstruation at age 14.

Her father, Kparevfa Lanna who was concerned by her condition took her to a doctor called Agber Kwende in the Gaav Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, for immediate treatment.

The doctor for reasons unknown allegedly removed Dooyum’s ovaries and damaged other vital organs in her reproductive system making her conditions worse.

However, it was reported that Dooyum has not been experiencing menstruation since the surgery and also getting ill.

Diagnosis and scans which were recently conducted revealed her fallopian tube shrunk which signifies that conception is an impossibility for her.

“I feel sick all the time. Apart from headache, I still experience abdominal pain.

My education has been affected also. I feel sad all the time. I cannot have kids in the future, so what is my essence in life. I feel like ending it,” she said

“All the time we have gone back to the quack doctor to complain of the damage he had done, he chased us away.

 We have been to more than four hospitals looking for solution and they keep telling us that her ovaries had been removed.

After we reported the matter to the police, the doctor was briefly arrested but released the following day.
