“Nigeria Is the Poorest Place on Earth to Live” – Sowore Blasts Tinubu Government Over Hardship

  • Omoyele Sowore has criticized the Tinubu administration, claiming Nigeria is currently the poorest place on earth to live due to policies such as subsidy removal and tariff increases.
  • His remarks sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing that hardship has worsened, while others argued that the claim was an exaggeration.

Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential hopeful, Omoyele Sowore, has sparked reactions after describing Nigeria as the poorest place on earth to live, while criticizing the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking on the country’s economic situation, Sowore argued that the government worsened the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians shortly after assuming office.

According to him, “Nigeria Is Currently The Poorest Place On Earth To Live. When this government came into existence the first thing they did was place a sledge hammer on the survival mode of Nigerians by removing subsidy and hiking tariffs, without increasing the wages and salaries of people to bear the high cost of living”.

His comments come amid continued public debate over the impact of fuel subsidy removal, rising electricity tariffs, inflation, and the increasing cost of living across the country.

The statement quickly generated reactions on social media, with some Nigerians agreeing that economic hardship has become more severe, while others argued that Sowore’s description of Nigeria as the poorest place on earth was an exaggeration.

Several users pointed to the daily struggles many citizens face, while others insisted that the country’s economic challenges should be assessed using global economic indicators rather than emotional sentiment.
