EFCC Marks Properties of Convicted Ex-Abia Governor, Orji Uzor

On Saturday, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Saturday marked properties belonging to Orji Uzor Kalu.

Properties belonging to the convicted former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu have been marked by EFCC for possible forfeiture to the Federal Government.

According to the statement issued by the EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, the move was to ensure that the properties were not dissipated after Justice Muhammed Idris of the Federal High Court, Lagos, had directed that Uzor Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Limited be wound up and all its assets forfeited to the federal government.

Uwujaren stated that the properties marked by the anti-graft agency for forfeiture includes the Sun newspaper and Slok Nigeria Limited.

Recall that on the 5th of December, the ruling of the judge on Orji Uzor Kalu, one of his former commissioners, Jonas Udeogo and Slok Nigeria Limited on fraud and money laundering trial, directed that the company to be wound up and its assets forfeited to the government.

The judge also sentenced Kalu to 12 years jail term and Udeogo to 10 years after convicting them on the corruption charges.
