My mum sold fruits, gave me money for studio sessions- Crayon recounts journey to stardom

Charles Chibueze Chukwu, better known as Crayon, Young music act, signed under Mavin records has revisited his journey to stardom and some of the challenges he faced.

He disclosed that signing a deal with Mavin Records enabled him to uplift his family as he was able to stop his mum from selling from fruits in Iyana Oba, Lagos.

Crayon, who is the first child of his family, also revealed that she was very supportive and even gave him money for studio sessions.

Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, the Ijo Laba Laba crooner said it was not always his dream to go into music, but his father somewhat sparked the interest.

According to Crayon, his dad used to sell records and MC events he would often take some of the CDs, listen to them and try to mimic artistes.

He said that when he reached 12 to 13 years of age, he wanted to be venture into music, so he joined the choir in church, but due to stage fright he quit.
