Morocco earthquake death toll increase to 2,497 With Many Others Injured

The interior ministry said on Monday that 2,497 people have died as a result of the deadly earthquake that struck Morocco. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

The ministry updated the earlier death toll of 2,122 and the number of injured to 2,476.

Gistlover reported that a powerful earthquake shook the North African country last Friday night, sending terrified residents fleeing their homes in fear.

The 6.8-magnitude quake struck a mountainous area 72 kilometres (45 miles) southwest of tourist hotspot Marrakesh and was also felt in the coastal cities of Rabat, Casablanca and Essaouira.
