Nigerian comedian Igosave has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the troubled marriage of former Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye housemate Angel Smith, adding a comedic but pointed take that has sparked reactions online.
Sharing his thoughts via Instagram Stories, Igosave commented on what he described as the endurance required in marriage, especially in light of the reported breakdown of Angel’s relationship. He jokingly contrasted the situation with the idea of a same-sex marriage, expressing shock that such a union allegedly collapsed in less than 70 hours, and suggesting that one partner may not have been able to tolerate the other’s behaviour.
In his words, he said: “Men are really trying when it comes to marriage matters! A woman got married to another woman, and the marriage didn’t even last 70 hours. She couldn’t handle what the other woman was doing.”
His comments come amid growing tension between Angel and her partner, Tumininu. Reports of marital strain intensified after Tumininu accused Angel’s mother of pressuring him into the marriage for immigration-related benefits, while also criticising her in strong terms. Shortly after their wedding, speculation grew online following claims of infidelity and cryptic social media posts from both parties, with Tumininu also sharing a meme hinting at alleged cheating.
