May Edochie’s Lawyer Urges Edochie Family To Confront Yul’s Actions Amid Online Backlash

  • Emeka Ugwuonye, representing May Edochie, released a public statement regarding tensions between her supporters (“May Nation”) and the Edochie family.
  • The statement follows recent online conflicts involving Linc Edochie, Yul Edochie’s brother, and his estranged partner, Yinka.

Emeka Ugwuonye, legal representative of actress and influencer May Edochie, has issued a public statement addressing the ongoing tension between her supporters, known as “May Nation,” and members of the Edochie family.

This comes in the wake of recent online drama, particularly involving Yul Edochie’s brother, Linc, and his estranged partner, Yinka, who became embroiled in a war of words with May’s fanbase. The exchanges have only intensified public interest in the strained relationship between May and her estranged husband, Yul.

Ugwuonye noted that the backlash against the Edochie family was a reflection of growing frustration from the public, not May’s doing. According to him, “The Edochies are facing trolling, ridicule, and intense criticism online and unfortunately, this may only escalate. The past few weeks have shown just how serious this situation has become.”

He added that some within the Edochie circle are pressuring May to rein in her fans, wrongly assuming that her influence could bring the backlash to a halt. “Many of them have reached out to my office urging me to advise May to speak to her fans. But this expectation is both unfair and misguided,” he said.

Ugwuonye emphasized that the real source of the public outrage is Yul Edochie’s controversial conduct. He cited Yul’s public declaration of polygamy, despite Nigerian laws governing monogamous marriage, as one of several actions that have intensified criticism. “From openly demanding the return of May’s bride price to accusing her of undergoing cosmetic surgery instead of grieving their deceased child, Yul’s actions have fueled widespread condemnation,” he stated.

He also criticized the silence of veteran actor Pete Edochie, who has yet to publicly address his son’s behavior. “Chief Pete Edochie’s refusal to call out Yul and Judy’s conduct only makes things worse in the eyes of the public,” he added.

Making matters worse, Ugwuonye said, is Linc Edochie’s rumored involvement with a woman known for antagonizing May online. He argued that such behavior highlights a troubling lack of empathy within the family.

The lawyer directly addressed Leo Edochie, believed to be one of the more rational members of the clan, urging him and others to recognize that the conflict stems from their own family’s actions. “Instead of calming the storm, the Edochies have stoked it further. It’s unrealistic to expect May to put out a fire she didn’t start,” he concluded.

Ugwuonye clarified that May did not create or instruct the “May Nation” to act on her behalf. Rather, it is a collective response from individuals who feel strongly about the way she has been treated. “Trying to silence these supporters could backfire and make things worse. People will interpret it as coercion,” he warned.

@Abigail Okamgba:”If May was their daughter and yul was the in-law, will they keep quiet?”

@Lawrencia Quarshie:”And by asking Queen May to talk to her fans, the family is indirectly condoning the actions of the instigator. That is unacceptable.”

@Jennifer Mma Ozurumba:”Does it mean the head of that family is unable to call his children to order?”

@Chinasa Favour:”I love to be talked about that is what Yul also said, the more he displays the more we talk about him.”
