Man claims N1.4m is enough to get married in Nigeria, gives breakdown

A young man named Yaya Abba claims that a standard wedding ceremony in Nigeria can be held comfortably with N1.4 million.

He stated this on the microblogging site Twitter (X), while detailing how any traditional person planning to marry can spend the money.

He stated that N200,000 will be budgeted for dowry (bride price). He went on to say that the couple can save N500,000 on house rent.

Yaya went on to say that the budget for Lefe will be N700,000. Kayan Lefe is a Hausa wedding custom in which the groom purchases expensive gifts for his bride.

He wrote; “Dowry = 200k

House Rent = 500k

Lefe = 700k

Total = 1.4 million

Unless you’re trying to show off, N1.4 million naira is enough to get you married as an average Nigerian.”

Average rent fee of a single room in Abuja, key areas is 700k per anum, talk less of BQ. Someone who lives in a BQ in Abuja is more richer than many people who owns their own flat, in their states.
