Ayo Balogun, better known as Wizkid, is trending online as fans celebrate his newest achievement at the Brazilian music award event BreakTudo 2023.
Wizkid was named the Best International Music Act of 2023 by BreakTudo, beating out The Weeknd, Sam Smith, Post Malone, Bad Bunny, Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, and Myke Towers.
This accolade comes only days after Wizkid was passed over for nominations to the Record Academy Awards, or “Grammys.”
Reactions have poured in after Wizkid was named Best International Act at the 2023 BreakTudo Awards.
Some have urged the artist to use this as solace after being passed over for a Grammy nomination.
However, Wizkid is not the first person to be named Best International Act by a foreign music award event.
Wiz knocked out Drake, Jay-Z, Cardi B, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, DJ Khaled, Migos, Solange, and Sza to win Best International Act at the UK’s most prestigious black music awards show, the MOBO Awards, in 2017.
