Veteran Nigerian singer and activist, Charly Boy, has sparked conversation online after urging older citizens to prioritize self-care just as much as the younger generation.

In a video shared on social media, Charly Boy, popularly known as Area Fada, revealed that he recently underwent microblading to get rid of grey hairs on his head and face. Proudly showing off his new look, he emphasized that maintaining one’s appearance is not a crime, regardless of age.

“This grandpa eeeeeeeehn! I carry myself go do small microblading. I say make I fine small. Do you mind? Clean face no be crime, abeg,” he declared.

The entertainer made it clear that self-care isn’t exclusive to Gen Z, insisting that grooming is for anyone who values themselves. Using relatable examples, he said:

“You dey take care of your car, your house, your babe… why you no go take care of your face? Na face people go first see.”

He stressed that as people grow older, they should be more intentional about their appearance, not for vanity, but for self-respect.

“As we dey age, na so we suppose dey package ourselves. No be vanity, na self-respect,” he said.
He jokingly added that people should not attribute his white teeth and glowing face to filters, but to regular “maintenance.”
