“Learn a Skill Before University” – Lady Reacts as Millions Sit for JAMB 2026 Despite Job Scarcity

  • A Nigerian lady has sparked conversation online after reacting to the large number of candidates sitting for the 2026 JAMB examination.
  • She advised young people to consider learning a skill and achieving financial stability before pursuing a university degree, arguing that this approach could be more practical in today’s job market.

A Nigerian lady has stirred debate on social media following her reaction to reports that over two million candidates are sitting for the 2026 examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Sharing her perspective, she questioned the traditional path of going straight to the university without first acquiring practical skills, especially in light of rising unemployment among graduates.

“Over 2 million candidates are sitting for the 2026 JAMB exam, yet many graduates still struggle to find jobs after university. There is no age limit to getting a degree. People can first go and learn a skill, become financially stable, and later return to the university for their education.”

She further argued that prioritizing skill acquisition before formal education could help young people become financially independent earlier.

“Instead of spending 4–5 years in school and still coming back to learn a skill afterward, it may be better to learn the skill first.”

Her comments have since generated mixed reactions online.
