- A woman has accused some INEC officials of allegedly collecting money from certain individuals to fast-track their voter registration while others who had been waiting were ignored.
- The viral confrontation has triggered calls for an investigation, with many Nigerians insisting that voter registration should remain free, transparent, and accessible to all eligible citizens.

A Nigerian woman has confronted officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing some staff of allegedly collecting money from prospective voters in exchange for giving them preferential treatment during the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
In a video circulating online, the visibly upset woman claimed that while many people had waited for hours to be attended to, some individuals who allegedly paid money were issued slips and registered ahead of others.
“You’re collecting money from people and giving them slips. But we’ve been here since. You refused to attend to us,” she said while confronting the officials.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns about alleged corruption and irregularities in the voter registration process, with many Nigerians calling for an investigation into the claims.
Reacting to the video, some social media users alleged that similar practices were taking place at other registration centres across the country, while others urged INEC to sanction any officials found culpable.
Others, however, dismissed the allegations or linked the incident to political tensions surrounding the voter registration exercise.
INEC has not officially responded to the specific allegations in the viral video as of the time of reporting.

“It’s everywhere. Even at the Local Government where I’m. If I mention the state and LG now, they may use DSS to track me down. Fact: Some staff are doing it at each center though their boss may not be aware.”

“Exposing this is so important! Voter registration is a constitutional right, not a business venture. INEC needs to investigate this center immediately and penalize corrupt officials.”
