The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, a public holiday in remembrance of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday evening, July 13, in a hospital in the United Kingdom.
This announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, who stated that the work-free day is intended to give residents the opportunity to mourn the late leader.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda extended heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina, and Nigerians at large. He described the late president as a distinguished leader, patriotic elder statesman, and a committed democrat who dedicated his life to serving the country.
The governor also prayed for Allah (SWT) to show mercy on Buhari’s soul, forgive his shortcomings, and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
The former president’s body is expected to arrive in Nigeria today, where he will be laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
