- Nigerian dancer Oluwatosin Solaru credits veteran dancer Kaffy’s 2006 Guinness World Record achievement as inspiring her to pursue investment opportunities.

Nigerian dancer Oluwatosin Solaru has completed a 157-hour dance marathon in Lagos, citing veteran dancer Kaffy as her major inspiration.
In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Solaru revealed that Kaffy’s groundbreaking Guinness World Record (GWR) feat in 2006 planted the seed of ambition in her.
“Back then, I thought it had to be done by organizations like Silverbird. But after Hilda Baci’s GWR feat last year, I realized it was something I could apply for myself,” Solaru shared.
Solaru, 30, completed the marathon on June 29 at Nile Cinema, Ikota, Lagos. She disclosed that the entire process cost approximately ₦3.5 million.
Although initial support was limited, the dancer noted that encouragement from the public and online communities began to pour in after the second day of the attempt.
“I wanted to prove that dance is more than a hobby. Nigerians hardly understand talent, let alone embrace talented people. I had to make a clear statement,” she added.
In addition to dancing, Solaru is also a writer, spoken word artist, and entrepreneur. She plans to expand her influence by collaborating with other dancers and organizing dance workshops across schools in Lagos and Ogun States.
While the current Guinness World Record stands at 127 hours set by India’s Srushti Jagtap in 2023 Solaru surpassed it by 30 hours and is now awaiting official verification from GWR.
