Aside from qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Nigeria’s Super Eagles have already set a new record with their 1-1 draw against Algeria on Friday night.

Gernot Rohr’s men finished the just-concluded series unbeaten in six games and are top of Group B with 14 points.

Goals from John Ogu and Yacine Brahimi for both sides decided the day on Friday night.

However, Nigeria has set the record to become the first African side to go 36 games unbeaten in the world cup qualifiers after last defeat on the road at Angola in 2004.

However, since then, the Eagles hasn’t blinked an eyelid, winning a staggering 24 games.

Interestingly, only Spain, on a 63-game streak, has bettered that record.
