By 3 p.m. on Monday, the Federal Government (FG) is scheduled to meet with the heads of organized labor, the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
The federal administration and the labor leaders are meeting in an effort to prevent the impending strike action throughout the nation.
During a press session, Simon Lalong, the minister of labor and employment, made this announcement.
He added that the reason he hadn’t met with the labor leaders earlier today was because he hadn’t received sufficient briefings from the pertinent departments.
Lalong pleaded with the TUC and NLC leadership to persuade all of its affiliate unions to postpone their two-day strike and planned total shutdown in 21 days.
The state chapters of the NLC have started the mobilisation of its members towards the two-day warning strike to commence on Tuesday.
Gistlover recalls that the labour union on Friday disclosed it would be holding a two-day warning strike starting from September 5, 2023.
The NLC decided after the conclusion of its National Executive Council (NEC) earlier on Friday.
The union said the two-day warning strike was in preparation for a total shutdown, which will start in 21 days.
