Popular Nigerian TikTok personality Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, widely known as Peller, is once again under public scrutiny after a red carpet interview clip from a recent event went viral.
Peller and his partner Jadrolita were among the celebrities who attended the glitzy 30th birthday celebration of renowned fashion designer Veekee James. While the event was packed with star power, Peller’s red carpet moment quickly became the center of online conversations.
During an interview session with a female host and fellow guest Jarvis, Peller was asked a simple question: “Can you wish Veekee James a happy birthday?” His unexpected response, “How many times do I have to say happy birthday to Veekee James?” caught viewers off guard and seemed to visibly irritate Jarvis, who reacted with multiple side-eyes.
The interaction didn’t end there. When asked to describe Veekee James in one word, Peller answered, “She is a woman. She is a woman that have cloth. She is a tailor.” His grammar and phrasing drew criticism online, fueling further debate about his communication skills.
Asked what he admired most about the celebrant, Peller responded, “Because her husband like her.” The unusual response led to more backlash, with many social media users once again urging the TikToker to consider furthering his education.
