The upcoming governorship elections in Kogi and Imo States have caused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to express concern about the potential impact of insecurity.

On Wednesday, INEC voiced concerns about the potential impact the security situation in the states may have on the conduct of elections through one of its National Commissioners, Mallam Mohammed Kudu Haruna.

He brought up the issues during a gathering of media executives on Wednesday in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, in preparation for the governor’s race of 2023.

In order for voters to carry out their civic duty of choosing new leaders, the electoral umpire made an appeal to all stakeholders to reject violence and embrace peace before, during, and after the elections slated for November 11, 2023.
