Innoson Vehicles has finally withdrawn the N3 million scholarship awarded to Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme after an Anambra committee of inquiry confirmed that her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result was forged unaided.

Mmesoma acknowledged using her mobile phone to manipulate her JAMB scores when the panel released its findings on Friday, July 7.

Innoson Vehicles’ head of corporate communications, Cornel Osigwe, said in a statement that the company made the “difficult decision” to withdraw the scholarship “in response to the confirmed findings,” according to The Cable. The statement was released on Saturday, July 8.

The group described Mmesoma’s action as deeply disappointing and contravention of its values, particularly its scholarship programme, stressing that the action was a testament to the company’s unyielding commitment to honesty, integrity, and merit-based recognition, The Nation report added.

“In recent days, we have been involved in the process of investigating allegations surrounding the 2023 UTME examination results of one of our scholarship recipients, Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme. It was reported initially that Miss Joy scored exceptionally high on the exam, a feat that led to her being awarded a scholarship by our company,” the company said.

“I went to cybercafe to print it”- 3 strong things Mmesoma said as she confessed to fake JAMB result

Mmesoma Ejikeme’s Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) score was a hot topic for days as Nigerians were split between those who backed her and those who thought she cheated to get the score.

The same girl had previously received a scholarship from notable Nigerians like Innoson Vehicle after she allegedly won the 2023 JAMB competition with a score of at least 360.

As inconsistencies in the specifics of her result emerged, JAMB declared that the result she had been flaunting was fraudulent.

Here are the first three things she said to the panel, according to the most recent findings by an Anambra panel formed to look into the matter:

  1. Ejikeme admitted to forgery: According to the Anambra report, the lady said she was guilty of the forgery accusation. Her school principal was present when she made the allegation. *
  2. Nobody supported Ejikeme in the JAMB result manipulation The teenage girl revealed that she went about the doctoring of the result by herself. She said that nobody helped her.
  3. How Ejikeme went to cyber cafe The girl admitted in front of the panel that after manipulating the result, she went to an internet cafe named Priscal Global Computers to print the same document out using her same Airtel number

In other news, Osita Chidoka, a former Minister of Aviation and owner of the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) centre where Mmesoma Ejikeme sat for her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) called on the candidate to explain the source of her result.

Chidoka said he would plead with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for leniency if Mmesoma came clean with her result source.
