An ex-worker has publicly called out the Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint, Tosin Eniolorunda, following comments suggesting that Nigerian professionals are not meeting global talent standards.

The reaction comes after the CEO disclosed that the company is struggling to fill hundreds of job vacancies due to a shortage of qualified candidates in the country.

Reacting via X (formerly Twitter), the former employee, identified as @MrOlibaba, shared his personal experience, stating that his time at the company did not match its public reputation.

“I did three months with Moniepoint and resigned… I resigned and I’m not proud enough to have it on my CV,” he wrote.

“Moniepoint employee relations and welfare doesn’t equate the hype they move with.”

He went further to question the company’s stance on talent shortage, comparing its hiring situation with that of traditional financial institutions.

“Is Moniepoint any better than commercial banks that recruit year in year out? None have complained of in-experience workforce. Who’s Moniepoint to talk down on Nigeria workforce with one of the best talent pool in the whole world.”

The ex-worker also alleged inconsistencies in the company’s recruitment process, citing an example involving a friend.

“A friend was rejected after doing the third stage interview with Moniepoint, one week later they sent him a mail inviting him for the same interview they rejected him at third stage. Such a disorganized hiring process.”

The claims have since fueled debate online, with many Nigerians weighing in on issues surrounding workplace standards, hiring processes
